Everyday I live life with the hope of doing something great. Starting the next Google. Running across Australia for charity. Saving the world from poverty. Finding a cure for cancer.
They are all great goals. However they are more a great vision. Something which I would want the world to be like if I could make it happen.
But how can I actually make a difference TODAY?
You might find yourself in the exact same situation as me. Most of the time we dream of achieving big goals and then become disappointed as we then realise we may not be able to achieve them. We think that a goal is too big for us to reach so we never begin to realise our dream.
Tonight I was watching 60 minutes and one of the stories was on a guy by the name of Nick Vujicic.
From the outset Vujicic is not your ordinary guy. He was born without any arms or legs. A true medical mystery that has never been solved.
How any person could live though his condition and come out on top is amazing. But Vujicic has come out with flying colours. Not only is he living with his condition, but is living his life to the full. In fact he is doing more then most people.
Vujicic is an intensely powerful motivational speaker. He is using his disability as a tool to help others, and to promote his faith.
Just watching the story was really powerful. The determination and spirit displayed by Vujicic is something which I would love to possess.
You can watch the video below to find out more about Vujicic.
Honestly I had never really given sign language much thought. In fact I have never really met anyone who was truly deaf.
Rachael’s short video really gave me a new perspective on this issue. Sometimes it is not until you see something from the source that it really starts to hit home.
We can all learn a lot from Rachael. In just 1 minute she has opened my eyes to a world without sound. I can barely imagine not having sound. Even the sound of typing as I write is somewhat soothing.
I must say I wish I had the strength and courage of many of those who are deaf. You are all an inspiration in the way you get on with your lives despite your problems!
As a worldwide community we need to take the inspiration given to us. I certainly know I would struggle without my hearing. The least we can do as a community is learn how to communicate with those who have lost their hearing. It can happen to anyone!
Here are some resources of places where you can learn to sign!
