Today Samsung released a new Green phone in Beijing coinciding with the Olympics. The E200 Eco. Not only is it literally a green phone, but the phone is environmentally friendly.

The E200 Eco has an environmentally friendly bio-plastic case which is crafted from natural plant based materials like corn. Samsung will start to use more of the bio-plastic, with huge savings in CO2 emissions. Each ton of bio-plastic creates a reduction of 2.16 tons of CO2 compared to standard plastics.

Not only is the phone environmentally friendly but Samsung has decided to package it all up in a box made from recycled cardboard.

The E200 Eco is not Samsung’s only environmentally friendly phone. The company has been making moves on the cellphone market with other environmentally phones such as the W510 and F268.

Watch out for the E200 Eco when it hits the European market from next month. Looks like Australia and the US will miss out.

Back to my carbon hungry Nokia.
