Even if you have never heard of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, you will most probably be familiar with many products the Apple CEO has announced.

As you walk through your local city streets you will likely see many people focused on a seemingly invisible sound coming from the trademark white headphones made famous by the ever popular iPod. Even the Queen has purchased an iPod. It seems that every product Apple has produced in the past several years has produced an almost dream ride for the tech company. Everyone wants a bite from Apple.

While the tech company may be soaring high there have been many recent reports surrounding Jobs’ recent health. Ever since Apple held it’s World Wide Developer Conference rumors have been running wild about Jobs’ health due to his appearing slimmer than usual.

The rumor was that Jobs might have cancer. These rumors have since been quashed by New York Times Journalist Joe Nocera who had received a phone call from Jobs’ rejecting the claim. Either way there is no real concern for Apple supporters, because Jobs has been there before.

What many people don’t know, is that Steve Jobs has previously had Pancreatic Cancer. Back in 2004 Jobs was diagnosed with a rare form of the cancer and given only 6 months to live. The cancer was a rare form which was operable and not only is Jobs still around but for the most part has been fighting fit.

Jobs success in recent years is therefore not just extraordinary but it is absolutely remarkable. It is an inspiration to everyone. Jobs continued to work throughout his cancer and never told staff until after he was cured. He did not let his cancer stop his life.

So regardless of if you think Apple produces excellent products, there is a lot of inspiration behind this fruit company.

Well the iPhone 3g has been around for almost two weeks, and the question has to be asked… Was it worth the hype??

I know I certainly was swept up with all the Apple marketing. However I made a choice to not buy an iPhone and instead purchased a Nokia n95.

The reason I chose the Nokia n95 is simple. The iPhone is truly an amazing piece of technology. It has a fantastic design. It has a great user interface. It links up well with my iMac. It has an iPod, a great touch display, and is great for reading emails. However it is missing key functionality in the iPhone, which the n95 provides.

The iPhone 3g doesn’t have MMS, and has a rather low quality camera. While I have never worried about the camera, the lack of MMS alone pushed me towards the n95. Why would Apple not provide MMS on such a revolutionary device? The iPhone will change how people around the world use their mobiles, but with no MMS what is the point in having a camera?

Many users are also reporting battery life issues, especially when using the GPS. Not only that, but in Australia the iPhone plans are ridiculously priced. Telstra especially has offered some of the worst data plans in the world.

The n95 has been pushed out the door at really good prices since the iPhone release. I invested because it is a good phone to fill in the gap until the few issues with the iPhone are ironed out.

So is the iPhone just a novelty item? Well we will have to wait and tell. I suspect that Apple will release a software update around November that will enable the MMS features, and we should probably look for new iPhone models in February with updated cameras and storage space.

Personally, although I chose to go with the n95, I think Apple has done an amazing job with the iPhone considering this is only the second phone they have produced.

What do you think?
